Braeburn,
To fix the problem, go to the WassUp ==>Options ==>[Manage Files & Database] tab and manually enter a directory path in the "Temporary Files Location Folder" text box. Once you enter and save it (and it doesn't come up red), Wassup will remember that value for all upgrades and the error won't recur.

And, if you ever see that warning again, you will need to manually start statistics recording by selecting the "Enable/Disable Recording" checkbox in Wassup ==>Options ==>[Statistics Recording] tab, otherwise no visitor data will be recorded for your blog.

I updated to 1.5.1 and the warning apear. But it works fine. the same with the version before, I guess 1.4.9. It displays the warning but works fine. I've checked everything, the php.ini the folder , the permissions, change the folder in different locations, full path and so on. but the path and folder taken from php.ini exist, and there are session files in it. So i thought it seems to be ok. just a little bug or something.
But after updating to 1.5.1 and runnig and collecting for some day's it say it had been stoped in fact of that error. I've tried to deactivate every plugin.
It's just a day of missing data but i don't wanna check the system every day

have anyone a clue to fix it?
I tried this forum and the wiki.

THX
WassUp 1.5.1 (1.4.9)
WP 2.5
PHP5
on a root server

cuatrocc the problem is the Wordpress version, since the 1.4.4 release WassUp requires Wordpress 2.3 or later. I recommend you to upgrade your Wordpress version.

Thanks for the fast response - I just tested revision 51 and it works like expected.

You was right about the MySQL, my hoster uses a real ancient 4.0.x.

For me the issue is solved and can be closed

Renke I think your problem is an old Mysql version installed on your host (and it could be the same problem for biks), queries like those you pasted are not compatible with Mysql < 4.2, I just modified them to keep retro-compatibility with Mysql.
You could try the SVN code to find yourself if that's the problem.
Version 1.4.5 is on the way.

hello,

I see the same error as biks, to keep you informed here are the steps I performed today in my setup:

- updated WP to 2.3.3 German
- updated Wassup to 1.4.4

- noted some ugly errors on the wassip main page (DB errors like
"You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SELECT DISTINCT wassup_id FROM wp_wassup WHERE timestamp BETWE]
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM (SELECT DISTINCT wassup_id FROM wp_wassup WHERE timestamp BETWEEN 1202226033 AND 1202226213) as currenttot")

- deleted the complete plugin folder of Wassup and dropped the table
- installed Wassup again

no changes, the error is identical

on page "Visitor Details" 3 SQL errors and the both biks mentioned, on "Current Visitors online" one SQL error, "Spy Visitors" seems to work.

Hope this details help, if you need more input say so.

Thanks, Renke

Did you delete the wassup directory before installing the latest version?
Have you got some records in the DB or is it empty when you got this error?
Thank you

I had the preferences set to throw out data about a certain size, but this happened anyway - how can I make this go away? I'm not hip to the internal workings, so go easy on me - I'm at about a third grade level on all this stuff! Thanks in advance for helping me!
