The WishList Members plugin apparently does not plug into Wordpress' 'get_currentuserinfo' command to populate Wordpress' global '$current_user' variable with user data. Wassup cannot track users by username without this. Since this plugin is proprietary, we cannot adapt Wassup's code for compatibility. The plugin authors have to fix their own code to better meet Wordpress standards.

Hello,

I am creating a membership site and I have WishList Members installed.

We want to track individual user activity on our site. Wassup seems to do the job but it does not seem to log the persons username or userid, just the IP address. Any ideas?

Thank you,
Hans

No changes.
Your problem is strange and tough to diagnose without more info. Here are some hints:

double-check that WassUp is still recording in "Options=>Statistics Recording".

possible wassup data or index corruption may have occurred (can happen when MySQL server goes down during middle of a transaction, or if a disk error occurred, or through malicious code). This is fixable using "phpMyAdmin" or you can completely uninstall WassUp (purge Wassup data) and start anew.
I recommend that you backup (or export) your current wassup table before doing either.

your ISP may have changed the default MySQL or PHP settings and it is affecting WassUp.

Good luck.

Wassup's been working fine and all of a sudden (with no changes to my blog other than new posts) the plug in stopped tracking visits appropriately. My visitor number crashed. Typically, the number of visitors captured by Wassup was much higher than Google Analytics and now it is much lower. Did something change?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

BTW - Woopra has this type of functionality although its limited to visitors. It can also automatically tag previous commenters on the blog.

Hi there,

When I first installed WassUp several versions ago (and it's fantastic software, btw), the vast majority of my guests were logged with their hostname. That is to say, the actual name of the server they were visiting from (nc.rr.com or whatnot). More recently and after some upgrades, the vast majority are logged only by their IP addresses. A scant few still show server names, but most are just IP numbers. Is there any way to get WassUp to show me the server names of my visitors, or is there a utility better suited to that task?

thanks
Michael

I was wondering what Wassup counts as a "Page View". Are these individual page loads (including refreshes etc.) or hits on a page? Sometimes the difference between what Wassup says and another plugin like Slim-Stat says is significant. Wassup could be 3-8 times what the other traffic plugins report. Which one is correct. It would help if I understood how Wassup tracks visitors and page views and how it defines each.

Thanks.

Squirrel,
Wassup may not be recording your visitors. Go to the Wassup menu ==> Options and click on the [Statistics Recording] Tab. The 1st item is "Enable/Disable recording". This must be selected.

I tried before, and use actually many statistic tools (some WP plugins too), and I realized, that WassUp is the most accurate tool I ever seen.
If feed stats would be separated, it would be perfect.
I saw the ticket for it, so we are not far! :)

Thank you for this great tool!

Every statistics tools have their own method to record items, WassUp gathers a lot of information including (if it's set) attack attempt, spam, spiders, etc... so this could be little more then other tools. If someone could report his own experience with other tools, we will appreciate it.

With version 1.4.5 WassUp gathers every hits in our blogs, with or without cookies enabled (javascript is not important to get items).

Hey there,

Has anyone compared the WassUp stats with the numbers of other stat tools? I'd be interested in how big the differences are.

Oh, and does WassUp tracking rely on Java Script or will it also track people who have it disabled?

Thanks.

This would be helpful in tracking visitors - particularly spiders.

It occurred to me as I dug through logs reviewing spider activity. Some of them were obvious while others required a bit of research to identify. I'd like to be able to make some kind of note as I find out more about them.
