For whatever reason, I never saw your reply until now. Meanwhile about 3 weeks ago I gave up on Wassup completely, and am about to also give up on Wordpress and replace it with Joomla or Drupal. Meanwhile I found other Stat plugin which serve my needs better. I did like the appearance of Wassup until all these useless items appeared in the hit-list, and was never able to get the Wassup "ignore" items to actually ignore much of anything. I do understand all the work it takes folks to build and maintain good plugins, so thank you for your efforts.

Most of the pages you list are valid page requests triggered by visits to your blog. WassUp just reports the most frequent page requests and doesn't filter them.

The appearance of "wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron" requests in the top ten is new and only started happening since Wordpress 3.1. It is a concern that these requests are so frequent, but I am hesitant to exclude them (and any similiar request) from the next revision of WassUp because they could be indicators of a problem in Wordpress or a configuration issue.

The "js" and "css" requests are not page requests. When you see them in the top ten, it usually means that the links to those files in the document head are invalid and a problem exists in your Wordpress theme template. Check the view source of your blog pages/post for indicated "css" and "js" files and make sure that the URLs are valid.

Finally, the size of the top 10 list will be customizable in the next revision of WassUp. Here is a simple fix that you can do now, if you are comfortable using the Wordpress plugin editor: http://www.wpwp.org/forums/topic/show-top-ten#post-969 The line number to edit is #210 in Wassup 1.8.1

"Show Top Stats / Top Request" is cluttered with useless hits like
/blog/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron
/blog/xmlrpc.php
/blog/feed/
plus css, js, login and register links which are of little or no use.

Blocking such on Options / Post-Pages exclude either doesn't work at all or is inadequately defined.

What we really want to see is hits on which posts and pages. The list should include all of those, which means it should not be limited to ?10? lines.

Because of these defects I've virtually given up on Wassup, and have added WordPress.com Stats to get more of what's really needed, but that means running both. I like Wassup, but please fix these things!

Deeve, I agree, I use another source to check and find that IPs are often misidentified:

This company offers a free database, which one can install on one's server

http://www.trackipaddresses.com/database/#demo

I would surely love to know, how I could edit the wassup plugin to use such a database loaded locally on my server...

The fade effect is a "feature" of the 'spy.js' jquery plugin that Wassup uses. On a screenful of records (10) the effect should be gradual enough that you can see all the records, with the oldest being the lightest. Your graphics card is probably exaggerating the fade effect on your computer screen, making it fade out too quickly.

You can limit this fade effect to fewer records by editing 'wassup.php' in Wordpress =>Plugins=>Editor and change line #607 from "fadeLast: 5," to "fadeLast: 2,".
I hope this helps.

As an alternate test, I went to a WinXP computer and selected SPY Visitors display using the latest versions of Firefox, IE8, Chrome, & Opera and every display of this report showed the same fading. After the 7th entry it is essentially impossible to read anything. Sure hope there is a simple fix.

Using WassUp 1.7.2.1 & viewing with Firefox 3.5.5 in Vista Ultimate, I find that the display of SPY Visitors begins to fade after about 4 entries on the screen. This doesn't seem to happen when showing Visitor Details or any other display. Any ideas as to why this is happening and what can be done to correct it?

My blog being relatively new I wished If I could somehow see how much time visitors spend time on the site. As wassup already tracks the visits I thought it would be great to have this feature implemented.

I don`t know how wassup works but I have idea how this could be done. The time could be calculated considering the first page view and last page view. But this wont be too efficient as visitor might have left after one pageview. In this case the Visitor length could be shown as "Insufficient data".

I have uploaded a picture showing the possible space where time can be displayed : http://enli.co.cc/?attachment_id=218

Also new graph/page could be added to report the average time visitors have spent considering specific interval of time. To me this latter feature is a bonus if you guys implement the first request.

I am hoping to hear your thoughts on this idea.

Regards,

I know you guys must have a million other things to do, but thought to request better IP recognition in future releases as I currently have to double check IPs here:

http://www.myiptest.com/staticpages/index.php/IP-Lookup

and am sure if they can do it so easily & accurately, so could your plugin :o)

Hi Michele,
I have a suggestion for a stats addon/change:
-Create separate "Feed Reader" Top stats and remove "feeds" from "Top OS"/"Top Browser" stats and possibly even from "Top URL request".
-Add exclusion for "feeds" in Wassup recording options (for the URL request, not the user-agent).

"feed" is the #1 page request on my site. Not by bots, but by browsers (FF,Safari) and desktop applications launched by individuals. Eg. I have a subscriber via "Google Desktop" gadget that automatically queries my feed at least 4 times an hour, nonstop, 24x7. Firefox built-in feed reader is another app that does frequent automatic feed queries. I prefer that feed be separate so that it does not skew the other stats.

Thanks.

Wassup is a truely amazing tool, among all the stats tools I tried (e.g. couterizeII, bot-tracker). However one key stats is missing, that is the "Unique visitor count" which is considered the measure of popularity of your blog. It'll be great if you could add this together with the "visits, pageviews, page/visit"
